Teaching Awareness to the Resistant Client
Clients who are stuck in the subjective experience of their mental illness and/or addiction, often struggle significantly to gain objective awareness. This can be challenging to the helping professional. The helping professional is wise to develop a variety of techniques that may facilitate a “breakthrough” for a client. The aim of this training is to provide clinicians with new tools for teaching awareness to resistant clients. Jessica will discuss common obstacles to awareness, provide you with a guide for creating “AHA” moments for your clients, and give you a worksheet from her published workbook that you can use in your practice.
